Write for us

We welcome pitches about the craft and organisation of amateur theatre, especially pieces that make a specific production choice easier to think through. Send proposals through the Contact page rather than submitting a finished article without an introduction.

What fits

Good subjects include choosing a script for a company, planning a useful rehearsal, communicating a directorial idea or making a coherent design from available materials. We also consider theatre histories and explanations when they illuminate a real production question. We do not seek material that depends on unsafe work or unverified claims.

A pitch with a clear centre

Tell us the proposed angle, who would find it useful and the main point the piece would make. Include the practical steps, examples or distinctions that support the idea. Be clear about any relevant interests or relationships. A focused proposal is more helpful than a broad subject label.

Sending a proposal

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a working title and a short outline. We cannot promise publication, and a proposal should not include confidential information about a company or its members.
